2010-07-26 Conference Call

Meeting Minutes for July 26, 2010

  1. Community Updates
    • Beth will be taking a new position at Michigan. She will need to keep up to date with OSP, but will not be attending calls any more. We need someone to lead the calls.
    • OSP JIRA review status update. Bryan and Noah have both spent time reviewing Jira issues so we have a clear understanding of what is outstanding. Noah has not finished his walk-through. Beth has finished hers. Noah is assigned all other wizards plus the OSP portal. There are open issues still remaining to be done. Review for relevancy (dups, already fixed, better for Sakai 3, no longer relevant.)
    • Teaching and Learning (T&L) Group & requirements gathering. This past week was supposed to be focused on individual subgroups. Design lenses group meeting today. How can the group support the Sakai 3 functional analysts?
    • Status updates on OSP Help UpdatesJan trying to do a final pass, then give the KB person notice when Help is ready for each tool. We're at a point where we need Help for 2.7.
    • Sakai 3 General Status Updates
    • Independent OSP release cycle: action items moving forward. We haven't heard back from Anthony yet about taking him up on his offer to help.
    • Michigan's Load Testing. At the last Sakai testing there were a lot of rumors that weren't true about the results of the Michigan load testing. Sean asked some questions on email. We had seven different scripts, not just viewing portfolios. Fill out a form in a matrix, fill out a reflection, feedback form script. Edit page in a portfolio, adding pages to an existing portfolio. Running them all in parallel, first with one user, then ramping it up until we found failure. We have already made a number of fixes based on this testing which are in 2.7. But the upshot is that OSP is not ready for campus-wide roll-out. Michigan may be able to make the load testing scripts available. They are Load Runner scripts. Load Runner is proprietary.
  2. Sakai/OSP Maintenance Status (Bug fixes can be verified on the following QA servers Nightly Build (HSQLDB) or Nightly build (Oracle))
    • SAK-18011 Page title does not support special characters. Fixed and merged to 2.7.x and 2.6.
    • 18766 Next Jira that Michigan will focus on.
    • Indiana will focus on merging their changes this week.
    • SAK-18805 Coordinator/Evaluator role cannot view wizard subpages of other users. Chris fixed it.
    • Beth will write up a Jira, when you import a matrix into a 2.7 instance, the evaluators are cleared. Would this happen if you upgrade to 2.7 -- will existing sites lose their settings? If you take a matrix zip file that had reviewers defined for each cell, they are no longer defined in 2.7.
    • SAK-13145 Modify wizard after publishing (add/move page/category or delete page/category) - Support? Within the Wizards tool, the pages are locked down after publishing. We relaxed those constraints for the Matrix. Is it important to anybody to have this relaxation in Wizards? What are the ramifications?
    • There are a number of Wizard bugs. Rutgers uses wizards. Who else? What is the priority for fixing? Lynn would like to see parity.
    • OSP Nightly Build Server status. OSP nightly server not doing well. Chris doesn't know why it is acting differently from all the rest. None of the OSP tools work.
    • Bryan is transitioning to Sakai 3 work. May not come to these calls anymore.
  3. Sakai Development Status (next major release cycle)
    • SAK-14401 OSP Tools don't respect language/locale preferences (only when english is not the default locale). David Martinez was submitting patches. He will submit more. If Beth can't continue reviewing patches and committing them, she will let us know.
    • SAK-16693 Roster Synchronization (pending adding optional flag, branch, test server review and trunk merge)
    • SAK-18559  Add support for email notification preferences in Matrices and Wizards (download design) (pending branch, test server and trunk merge)
    • Deprecate Reports & Warehouse
