Meeting Minutes for April 18, 2011

  1. Community Updates
    • Teaching and Learning (T&L) Group updates.
      • Clay Fenlayson will talk this afternoon at 5 PM at the T and L Lenses group about the current status of the Georgia Tech contribution to Sakai OAE
      • T and L group met this past week about their schedule for the Sakai Los Angeles meeting. Planning a Birds of a Feather meeting, wanting to involve more faculty.
  2. Sakai OAE.
    • General Status Update.
      • Portfolio Visioning for Sakai OAE. Next meeting April 26 at 5 PM, NYU is scheduled to demo its latest contribution to Sakai OAE portfolio functionality
      • Portfolio Reports. Good meeting in April, next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 3, at 12 noon. Continuation of process of writing a reporting MiniSpecs
      • Portfolio Minispecs . Friday, April 22, 12 noon. Recruiting more groups to write MiniSpecs.
    • OSP Help Updates.
      • update sakai.properties documentation.
    • OSP Marketing.
      • Noah created and made available on Confluence a utility to ease the process of creating custom renderers. It is used when running transformations locally in an XML editor such as Oxygen. The utility, the xslt-facade, functions as a dummy Sakai server, resolving paths and messages as though the custom renderer were being run on a server. This allows you to use the same, unaltered file locally and in production. Without it, you need to make a number of changes to the custom renderer, which you have to revert every time you load the file to production, which is tedious and error prone. Erica has also written up instructions on creating custom renderers. The xslt-facade is available on confluence now, and the documentation will be available in a day or two.

  4. Sakai/OSP Maintenance Status (Bug fixes can be verified on the following QA servers Nightly Build (HSQLDB) or Nightly build (Oracle)).
    • Jan found 4 problems, some of which she will write up as bugs
      • Users not being able to log in even though creator of account can log in with their username and password: this is probably either user error or something strange about the rSmart CLE configuration.
      • Matrix import – when matrix name is too long, name becomes disconnected from Select button. Jan will write this up as a bug.
      • Matrix import – can’t edit imported matrix until you save it for the first time
      • Resources – when site name is changed, old name appears as title for site folder when accessing Resources to retrieve zip file to import a matrix. This would be really complicated to fix, so people should be sure of their site title before they create the site.
    • Noah implemented several enhancements over the last week:
      • SAK-20426 Presentation template transformations were out of synch with what you could do with forms. Merged in. Fixed in 2.72 and 2.8.2
      • SAK-20428 Portfolios that have a template and Required Settings, users with 2 tabs open can save a form over their Required Settings file, ruining it and ruining the portfolio. The fix prevents the form from overwriting the Required Settings form. They get an error message
      • SAK-20450 Supplies some additional contextual information (what matrix cell your editing the form from, what portfolio your editing from, what site you're coming from, etc.) Currently in trunk, we need to decide whether to include it other places.
