Meeting Minutes for Sept. 20, 2010

  1. Community Updates
    • OSP JIRA review status update
    • Teaching and Learning (T&L) Group updates. How will Portfolio requirements flow into the Sakai 3 work flow? Work is happening to try to establish communication between the Sakai 3 management group and T&L. Should we create mini-specs for portfolios? Lynn has created a mini-spec related to Groups that she is presenting to the Lenses group tonight.
    • Status updates on OSP Help UpdatesJan spent a lot of the weekend going through her third pass on the Help doing consistency editing. She now has 7 finished segments. Robin will input on one more, and there are 5 outstanding. A big one is the Portfolio Templates tool. It currently does not tell you how to do XML. Noah will give some input on the Portfolios Template help. Now we need 2.7 Help, then 2.8. What are the additions. For 2.7, mostly IU matrix work, and for 2.8 roster synchronization. There are some Portfolio interactions with other tools (e.g., Roster tool). Jan has been marking that help up with red and will give the changes to the KB group to do with as they see fit. No updates were made to the 2.6 Help about Matrices, since it was all about to change. The ability to copy a Portfolio was added for 2.8. We need a feature audit, both for help and for testing. IU has a lot of local documentation for their changes, which will help with creating Help.
    • 2.8 QA Status Test ScriptsThe broader Sakai community will be starting the testing process earlier. There will be an alpha soon, and we want to start testing it right away. How much has changed since the test scripts were updated? New scripts need to be added for copy portfolio, roster synchronization, and email preferences. Will Marist be around for testing this time? Michigan, Indiana? Lynn has a very good hourly how will be doing some testing.
    • Sakai 3 General Status Updates
      • Virtual Meeting for Portfolio Visioning in Sakai 3.0The notes for all the meetings that have been held linked from the Visioning page. Types of documents that need to be written: What is the purpose of portfolios. Taxonomy. Keli is encouraging us to update the personas to include portfolio activity. We need to write mini-specs and maybe a portfolio manifesto. Also migration concerns. The next meeting is 4pm Tues. Sept. 28. Robin is available to do writing, but is not as familiar with portfolios as others.
      • Sakai 3 ePortfolio
    • Independent OSP release cycle: action items moving forward. Anthony Whyte is back from vacation and working on 2.8 release. We are a tier two priority.
    • HEC/Montreal Demo of Portfolio 3.0 [September 13th]. Jacques will have a video of the presentation available.
  2. Sakai/OSP Maintenance Status (Bug fixes can be verified on the following QA servers Nightly Build (HSQLDB) or Nightly build (Oracle))
  3. Sakai Development Status (next major release cycle)
    • SAK-14401 OSP Tools don't respect language/locale preferences (only when english is not the default locale)
    • SAK-16693 Roster Synchronization (pending adding optional flag, branch, test server review and trunk merge) Ready to be merged?
    • SAK-18559  Add support for email notification preferences in Matrices and Wizards (download design) (pending branch, test server and trunk merge)
    • Deprecate Reports & Warehouse - planning to have an agreed plan by 8/23 (may affect or be affected by independent release work)
