2.4 Release Planning-7 (20070425)
Action Items from Meeting
Most of these need to be verified by 5pm April 25 and reported back to Megan.
Agenda
- worksite setup: The new worksite setup stuff has a place where anyone can put in anyone else's account name and see the list of classes that person is teaching. I guess this was put in for assistants to create classes for their instructors, but we don't want that for a number of reasons, until we can control it better as to who sees it for which set of instructors. So, Zhen is going to be putting in a sakai.property to optionally omit that piece from the UI (similar to how the import from file doesn't show up in the site info toolbar based on a sakai.property).
- Review of Open Blockers (see below)
- WebDav Qutoa (
- Review of Critical Items that are resolved.
- Focus for next week - GB, assignments, resources & verify merged in fixes
- Documentation (tentative)
- When to expect next tag
Overview
Minutes
Pre-meeting camaraderie:
Better sound quality today, cheerful introductions.
Meeting:
John wants to put in a properties value, so you can't see the courses everyone is teaching in Site Setup
It seems late to be adding features. Is this already in the release? It may have been added under the radar.
This is on by default. A big problem for large universities, that need the ability to turn this off.
Much discussion.
Putting in the property, after a vote.
Blockers:
Conversion scripts are taken care off.
Megan: Any questions about blockers?
Resources performance issue is on the resolved blocker issues 9714
Band-Aid or real solution? Real Solution
9718: Equally concerning as much as 9714.
Seth: This is a major problem. You can't see it from the web front end because you can't put up thousands or resources.
Lance: Is this a new problem, or does it exist in all prev versions.
Peter: Not just a WebDAV problem. It just exposes it.
Linda: Any logging of WebDAV
Lance: You should be able to log this through Apache
Peter: Quota code looks like it has been touched in 2.4, perhaps Ian can rerun this test on 2.3.
Megan: ACT: Going to talk to Ian
Lance: 2 more tags where any real change can be made. Little concerned that we can finish this in 2 weeks.
Megan: Not super concerned about the blocker list at the moment. A lot of the blockers are documentation issues.
???: Once concern is that a few of the issues require deep changes.
Megan: Resources, gradebook, and assignments will need a lot of testing.
Lance: Are we skipping criticals items?
Megan: Requirements for critical items this week is that they have been testing on nightly, have tester resources. Will go over the critical list.
Critical List:
Looking at unverified issues only.
9721: Not sure if we can proceed with this. Hard to test, and no testing so far.
Hannah?: ACT: We can check to see if we can get the data and test this.
9686: dead air... looking for Chris Maurer. Found Chris.
It's a regression. Verified on nightly.
9634: Could go in but needs to be reviewed on nightly
Discussion about what this means.
Megan: Can anyone commit to testing this before the tag cut tonight.
Megan: ACT: I will test this one.
9580: Lance: It seems ligitimate. But shouldn't make it at this moment. Could have a devastating ripple effect. Needs to percolate.
Delaying
9463: How critical is this? Who can test it.
ACT: Susan will email Megan by 5
9461: Not very risky change. Library folks can verify?
ACT: Susan
9373: ACT: Susan
9299: Mark/Stadford can verify that by 5
8277:
Call for resolved issues that anyone is aware of?
That list is done.
Other, last minute changes:
9599: fine
9594: fine
5549: fine
9560: tested by Stephen M. and Hattie
Megan feels fine including all of these. No opposition.
Wrap Up:
Need to focus on Gradebook, Resources, and Assignments. Umich found an intense bug, so we need to do deep testing on the Gradebook.
Clay: Tony Atkins is working on a guide for System Admins. Meeting on Friday for this. Clay is working on the docs on Confluence. New stuff this time (moved from docbook/svn). We are further ahead than usual for the release at this point.
Megan: Andrew won't be cutting the tag until this evening. Email me your verifications.
