Site Editor Tool - Import From Site (Replace)

purpose:

Test Procedure to verify that users can import data/tools from other existing sites

expected result:

User should be able to import specific tools, and the tool data, into a different site

test data:

note:

This test can be done with a Course as well as a Portfolio site. In executing this test for either there will be more tools to use that are not outlined here. In the case of a Course site, the Replace option does not work for Test & Quizzes content. T&Q's content can be imported using the Merge option.

start at:

Instructor's My Workspace, Login as an Instructor

1.

Select the Site Setup link

User directed to the Site Setup page

2.

Select the New link

User directed to the Creating a new site page

3.

Select the radio button for project site
Select the Continue button

User directed to the Project Information page

4.

Enter the following:
Site Title: Project Import 1
Select the Continue button

User directed to the Tools page

5.

Select the checkbox for All tools
Select the Continue button

User directed to the Customize Tools page

6.

Under Email Archive, enter: test
Select the Continue button

User directed to the Set Site Access page

7.

Select the Continue button

User directed to the Confirm Your Site Setup page

8.

Select the Create Site button

User directed to the Site Setup page where Project Import 1 should now be listed

Select the Project Import 1 link from the Quicklinks

User directed to the Project Import 1 site

Select the Announcements link

User directed to the Announcements page

Select the Add link

Enter the following:
Announcement title: From Project 1
Body: Announcement from a project site
Select the Add Announcement button

Select the Calendar link

Enter the following:
Title: From Project 1
Date: (choose today's date)
Start Time: 3:00 pm
Select the Save Event button

Prepend the following to whatever text already exists:

Select the save button

Forum Title: From Project 1
Select the Save Settings & Add Topic button
