Meeting Notes:

  • JIm M:  nothing prepared; trying to figure out what is the best path forward in terms of refining the UI.  Do we need a larger roadmap.  Might it be helpful to create a workflow that reflects the application as it is today; what would the ideal workflow be?
Refine UI/ improve and make more effective/ Simple, easy to use
Bridge gap between specific functionality, and overal goals for enhancement
    What's the best way?
Need larger road map to manage additional functionalities?
Helpful to create workflow for instructor?
Use this as a touchstone to add context to the improvements as they are proposed.
  • Keli: likes the idea of making a list of areas for improvment
doesn;t know if necessary to 'catalog' features (clicks)
Curious whether people are looking for improvements other than settings:
Lynn - question pools; Names of pools when choosing for random draw - doesn't show hierarchy. This could cause confusion unless pools are given specific, individual names.
Bryan Holladay - general UI improvement
Keli again: what are the known issues that people struggle with? Not sure where that discussion should occur - perhaps on list?
(where to collaborate - still an issue. Jira? Confluence? List?)
    Next topic - Bryan H.
    Based on Jira: https://jira.sakaiproject.org/browse/SAM-1402
Update on extended matching questions:  UCT.  Hoping to have it done for 2.9, but it's not quite done yet.  Hoping to have it done by the end of the year.  Will be contributed back to Samgo trunk early next year (2012)
Calculated Question:  Eric Hanson at health college run by the military has a contract with Unicon to work on this.
Keli was reading something that Michael Feldstein wrote about former BB users migrating to Sakai.  This work will benefit them.
Commentary on the user activity report and event log.  Keli will send out some thoughts to the group.
