Agenda for April 2, 2013
- security for quiz - username and pwd check on the fly as opposed to waiting till we click being assessment - this posses issues when using lockdown browser
- student score for question and parts + table of contents issue
Here is the feedback to the designs in sam-2070
Availability
- "Change submissions will be accepted until" from a two radio button option to a checkbox with title "accept late submissions until"
- Move "number of submissions" here and make it more obvious that late submissions are only accepted if there were no prior submissions
- "Close submission window now" to "Close Assessment Now"
- Add "Close Assessment" to the action pulldowns (need to explore implications)
- questioned the need to have a close assessment.
- possibly drop "username" and only require "password," see bugs below
- "Submissions, Grading and Feedback Access" will now be "Grading and Feedback Access"
- Move "Submissions" off this page, see above
Overall
- the accordion pattern might not be best one for Settings, as it is easy to ignore settings you might later find to be important, or make a change then not save it. If there were a next button, it would force saves. However, we also don't want to force users to look at seldom used settings. Keli will look for better way to do this.
- Keli hoping others can volunteer to take on work, once designs are finalized. Jim said he would ask around.
Bugs related to this discussion
- Narasi described a way that student part scores are visible even if feedback is never to be revealed (I am not describing it here, as it is a security problem). I think Lynn said she would follow up to see if there was a patch Ying could post as it was not contributed back, but I may be thinking of sam-1393 below. Narasi, I would recommend describing it directly to Karen, for now, rather than on list or in JIRA.
- Narasi said that Username seems obsolete: all user apparently needs is correct Password --should we just use only Password, going forward? (Narasi, please write bug)
- Narasi said that for timed assessments with additional security, the timer starts even if the user enters the wrong password. This is SAM-1393 and has been fixed for 2.9.
- Narasi described the fact that timed assessments started immediately without giving users a chance to get the Respondus Lockdown Browser. Narasi, I would recommend either adding something to the Introduction or if you are using 2.9, there is a link in the Begin Assessment page called "Recommendations for students taking high-stakes tests or assignments" where you can give tips to students. Else, write a bug and describe the behavior you are hoping for.
