Profile2 Accessibility Walkthrough Script

This walkthrough works for the Instructor and Student personae.

Start of Walkthrough Script

Log in as a New User

  • Login to the QA Server using the account "arpstu". Using the standard accessibility review password.

Go to the Profile tool

  • In the tools list (accesskey "Alt+l"), Find and activate the "Profile" Tool.

Post a Status Update

  • Update the user's status to say "Testing Accessibility".

Create/Edit Your Profile

  • Under "Basic Information"
    • Put a Nickname ("Billy") in the "Nickname" field
    • Put a Birthday ("August 4th, 1961") in the "Birthday" field
    • Use the "Save changes" button to save the entries.
  • Under "Personal Information"
    • Enter a favorite movie or two ("2001" and "Harvey") in the "Favorite Movies" field
    • Put "I love accessibility testing" in the "Other information" field
    • Use the "Save changes" button to save the entries.

Add an image to your profile

  • Upload an image file to the profile. If you need an image, use the avatar.gif file attached to this page.

Search for people with common interests and view their profiles

  • Activate the Search link on the Action Bar
  • Search for people with the common interest of "Accessibility"
  • View profiles from the results

Make a Connection Request

  • Search for "Jimmy James"
  • Request a Connection

Accept a Connection Request

  • Logout
  • Log in as "arpstu2"
  • Go back to the Profile tool
  • Activate the "Connections" link on the Action Bar
  • Accept the Connection Request from the "arpstu - William Green" account.
  • Logout

Set Privacy controls

  • Log back in using the original account: "arpstu".
  • Go back to the Profile tool
  • Activate the "Privacy" link on the Action Bar
  • Set "Basic Info" to "Only my connections".
  • Set "Who can view my connections" to "Only me".
  • Disable the "Show Birth Year" option.
  • Save the settings changes (You should notice a "Saved successfully" message).

Set Preferences

  • Set the "Confirms my connection request" Email notification to "Off".
  • Use the "Save settings" button to save.

Logout and End of Script

  • Logout of Sakai

Pre-Walkthrough Setup

This section documents how to create the necessary content to perform the above walkthrough script. It is not part of the walkthrough itself. It is expected that a person with the ability to log into the QA server with admin rights will create this content before the walkthrough takes place.

Create 4 accounts

  • arpstu - "William Green"
  • arpstu1 - "Bill Miller"
  • arpstu2 - "Jimmy James"
  • arpstu3 - "Larry Leisure"

Put "Accessibility" as an interest in their profiles

Log into each of the 3 accounts created above. Edit their profiles to include the word "accessibility" as an interest.
