Preferences Accessibility Walkthrough Script

This walkthrough works for both the Instructor and Student personae.

Start of Walkthrough Script

Login and Find Tool

  • Login with the "arpref001" user account.
  • In the tools list (accesskey "Alt+l"), activate the "Preferences" link.
  • Verify the Worksites list (accesskey "Alt+w") is in the expected initial state. The Worksites list should be:
    • My Workspace
    • ARP Fall Project
    • ARP Special Project
    • ARP Spring Project
    • ARP Summer Project
    • ARP Winter Project

Change the "Tabs" Preference Settings

  • Activate the "Customize Tabs" link on the tool's action menu bar.
  • Change the number of Tabs displayed to 3 (this count includes the "My Active Sites" tab).
  • Select site "ARP Fall Project" in the "My Active Sites" combo box and move it to the "My Hidden Sites" combo box.
  • Move site "ARP Winter Project" up to the top of the "My Active Sites" combo box.
  • Activate the "Update Preferences" button to save the changes. You should notice a message that says "Your preferences have been updated successfully".
  • Activate the "Home" tool link in the tools list.
  • Verify the tab settings changes in the Worksites list at the top of the page (accesskey "Alt+w"). The Worksites list should be:
    • My Workspace
    • ARP Winter Project
    • ARP Special Project
    • My Active Sites

Change "Notifications" Preference Settings

  • In the tools list (accesskey "Alt+l"), activate the "Preferences" link.
  • Activate the "Notifications" link on the Action Menu Bar
  • Set "Announcements" to "Send me one email per day summarizing all low priority announcements"
  • Use the "Update Preferences" button to save the changes.
  • You should notice a message "Your preferences have been updated successfully."

Change "Time Zone" Preference Settings

  • Activate the "Time Zone" link on the Action Menu Bar
  • Set the "Time Zone" to "America/Indianapolis".
  • Use the "Update Preferences" button to save the changes.
  • You should notice a message "Your preferences have been updated successfully."

Logout and End of Script

  • Logout of Sakai

Pre-Walkthrough Setup

This section documents how to create the necessary content to perform the above walkthrough script. It is not part of the walkthrough itself. It is expected that a person with the ability to log into the QA server with admin rights will create this content before the walkthrough takes place.

This walkthrough script requires:

  • Create a user account called arpref001.
  • In that account, create 5 project sites:
    • ARP Winter Project
    • ARP Spring Project
    • ARP Summer Project
    • ARP Fall Project
    • ARP Special Project
