Lessons (Lesson Builder) Accessibility Walkthrough Script

This walkthrough is for the student persona.

Start of Walkthrough Script

Login and Find Tool

  • Login with the "arstu1" user account.
  • In the worksites list (accesskey "Alt+w"), activate the "AR Test 101 123 Sprin ..." course site link.
  • In the tools list (accesskey "Alt+l"), activate the "Lessons" link.

Determine the Required Items

Explore the page and determine how many required items there are, and what their names are. Should be:

  • Pre-reading Assessment
  • creating accessible pdfs.pdf 
  • Make Accessible PDF files with Acrobat XI Pro.pdf
  • Acrobat X PDF Accessibility Overview.pdf
  • Post-reading assessment

Attempt to activate on of the required reading links.  Could you activate it?

Take the Pre-reading Assessment

  • Activate the "Pre-reading assessment" link
  • Complete the Pre-reading assessment
  • For help completing the quiz, see the Test & Quizzes Walkthrough Script
  • Activate the "Return to Lesson" link

Read the Required readings

  • Activate the first required reading link and download the file.
  • Go back to the lessons tool
  • Are other reading links now available?
  • Follow the same process for the next two readings.
  • Can you access the WebAIM link in the "Additional Resources" section?

Take the Post-reading Assessment

  • Activate the "Post-reading assessment" link
  • Complete the Post-reading assessment
  • For help completing the quiz, see the Test & Quizzes Walkthrough Script
  • Activate the "Return to Lesson" link

NOTE: You must score at least 10 points on this Post-reading Assessment

  • Can you access the WebAIM link in the "Additional Resources" section?
  • Visit each of the Additional Resources links

Explore the Sequential Steps Subpages

  • Activate the "Sequential Steps for PDF Accessibility" link
  • Explore the new page
  • Activate the "Step 2" link
  • Explore the new page
  • Activate the "Step 3" button
  • Explore the New page.

Add A Comment/Reply to comment

  • Add a comment to the Step 3 page
  • Activate the "Add Comment" link.
  • Input text content into the WYSIWYG editor
  • Activate the "Add Comment" button
  • Reply to one of the other comments

Add A Page

  • Activate the "Add Your Own Page" link
  • Activate the "Add Text" link.
  • Input text content into the WYSIWYG editor. Include at least one heading
  • Activate the "Save" button
  • Activate the "Add Resource" link
  • Add a URLs or upload a file
  • Activate the "Save" button
  • Activate the "Reorder" link
  • Move the resource so it is before the text content you recently added
  • Activate the "Save" button

Logout and End of Script

  • Logout of Sakai.

Pre-Walkthrough Setup Setup

This section documents how to create the necessary content to perform the above walkthrough script. It is not part of the walkthrough itself. It is expected that a person with the ability to log into the QA server with admin rights will create this content before the walkthrough takes place.

Login as "arins"

In the "AR Test 101 123 Sprin..." course select the Lessons tool

Add Text Content to first page

  • Download the attached "lesson builder walkthrough links and text.txt" file
  • Select all of the content in the "text" section and copy it to your clipboard.
  • Activate the "Add Text" link
  • Paste the copied content into the WYSIWYG editor.
  • change all items with h3. to heading level 3 and h4. to heading level 4s

Upload Pre- and Post- assessments from files

  • Download the attached "pdf pre-Assessment.zip" and "pdf post-Assessment.zip" files
  • Select the Tests & Quizzes tool.
  • Activate the "Import" button
  • Activate the file upload form control and select one of the files above and upload it.
  • Activate the "Import" button.
  • select "Publish" from the "Select Actions" drop down in the Working Copies tab of the assessment tool for the newly uploaded assessnment
  • Activate the "Publish" button
  • Repeat the steps to upload the second zip file
  • Go back to the Lessons tool

Add the Pre- and Post-assessment Quizzes

  • Activate the "Add Quiz" link
  • Select the appropriate radio button for the pre-assessment quiz
  • Activate the "Use selected item" button
  • Activate the "Reorder" link
  • Move the quiz so it is after the "Pre-Assessment" Heading
  • Activate the "Save" button
  • Activate the "Edit" link next to the quiz
  • Check the checkbox "Require that the student submit this assessment"
  • Activate the "Update Item" button
  • Repeat steps for the post-assessment quiz
  • Also check the "" and " checkboxes for this quiz
  • set the required point for the Post-assessment quiz to 10
  • Activate the "Update Item" button

Add the PDF readings

  • Download the attached 3 PDF files
  • Activate the "Add Resource" link
  • Activate the file upload form control
  • Select one of the PDF files and upload it
  • Activate the "Save" button
  • Activate the "Reorder" link
  • Move the PDF reading so it is after the "Reading set 1" Heading
  • Activate the "Save" button
  • Activate the "Edit" link next to the reading
  • Check the checkboxes "Require this Item" and ""
  • Activate the "Update Item" button
  • Repeat steps for the two other readings

Add the Web URL Resources

  • Activate the "Add Resource" link
  • Select one of the URLs from the "lesson builder walkthrough links and text.txt" file
  • Activate the "Save" button
  • Activate the "Reorder" link
  • Move the PDF reading so it is after the "Additional Resources" Heading
  • Activate the "Save" button
  • Repeat steps for the two other readings
  • For the webaim link, activate the "Edit" link next to the URL
  • Check the checkbox ""
  • Activate the "Update Item" button

Add the Sequential Subpages

  • Activate the "Add Subpage" link
  • Give it a Page title of "Sequential Steps for PDF Accessibility"
  • Activate the "Create" button
  • Select all of the content in the "Sequential pages, Page 1" section and copy it to your clipboard.
  • Activate the "Add Text" link
  • Paste the copied content into the WYSIWYG editor.
  • change all items with h3. to heading level 3
  • For the Step 2 link, activate the "Edit" link next to the link
  • Check the checkbox " "
  • Activate the "Update Item" button
  • Repeat steps for the two other Subpages
  • For Page 2 give it a title of "Step 2"
  • On page two, copy the graphics from the appropriate sections of http://webaim.org/techniques/acrobat/acrobat and paste them in the correct place
  • For the Step 3 link, activate the "Edit" link next to the link
  • Check the checkboxes " " and "Show as button rather than link"
  • Activate the "Update Item" button
  • Activate the "More Tools" link
  • Activate the "Add Comment Tool" link
  • Activate the "Add Student Content" link
