Minutes

Conference proposal:

  • Who would like to participate?
    • Mike and Francette won't be at the conference
    • Magdaleen and Dudu will be in Atlanta
  • What should be the angle of approach - a focus on our work, or general lessons learned for community source, or ...?
    • Specific attention to our particular case is certainly called for, if only to provide practical exemplars
    • this collaboration has been unique in a few ways, and so something could be lost in bringing it under the umbrella of broader issues
Next Steps: Clay will send out an early draft of a conference session this weekend, and others can comment throughout next week, then Clay will finally submit a proposal at the end of the week.

Resource issues in JIRA:

  • Should we ask for more votes from elsewhere?
    • We've only gone to the resources list thus far
    • Hard to tell how many people have voted
    • Don't want to confuse this voting with the requirements process, and it might be hard to avoid that confusion if we try to reach out to broad community input
    • Also, Peter Knoop seems to be making voting a broader issue, so we don't need a focused resources appeal
    • What we have now is useful enough for a rough cut - further input isn't really essential at this point.
  • How can we assist in treating these JIRA issues? Jim is heavily committed elsewhere, and won't even be able to begin fixing problems until later.
    • Developers might simply try to take reported issues and identify the technical problem in a comment - UNISA is thinking of doing this
    • Better yet, they might pick some easier issues and contribute a patch within Jira itself
    • Jim can help mentor people working on these issues, as they have questions - Soo Il at BU has a little time to work on a few issues here and there, but will likely have questions
    • Linking or relating issues can also be a big help.

Continuation of the phone conferences:

  • We should keep up the weekly meetings only so long as we have a specific, practical aim. Do we have such an aim?
  • There are other projects we might choose to turn to - one possibility is this idea of a new view on Resources.
  • We need more time to think about this, though.
  • We have the phone line reserved for at least one more week, so let's come back again together next week with ideas and opinions.

Date Widget:

  • Beth Kirschner is now leading the charge on seeing Soo Il's JS turned into a velocity tool for this and other projects. She's been centrally concerned with internationalization, and is now taking over the Schedule tool.
  • Soo Il could use some more clarification on the JS tweaks that are needed to prepare it for this conversion. Beth and Soo Il can work this out together.

Reordering Resources:

  • The "final" implementation is being QA'ed now. Is it looking as people had expected it should?
  • The horizontal spacing issue - Mike has a CSS file that handles this, and will send it out to the group
  • A mechanism for returning to the default ordering after the listing is sorted with the column headings
    • Clay will create a JIRA item for this and call it a bug
