2006-10-03 Project Management Meeting Notes
Project Management Meeting October 3, 2006
In attendance: Duffy, Oliver & Marc
Notetaker: Marc
Notes
As we said we would in the regular CM meeting, Duffy, Oliver and I met to walk through some changes in how the CM project is going to be organized from this point forward. A little background might be appropriate to give these changes some context:
- The holistic, user-centered design phase of CM is over with a lot of valuable information about users in the CM space and some initial tool (re)designs in place. Though requirements and design work will still be collaboratively reviewed, the more rapid design/development iterative will be work done where it is usually best handled - locally.
- For as much as we know right now, the CM service is ready (to be tested) and the main development effort is now to "wire up" the various clients of this service (Gradebook, Section Info, Roster, Home, admin CM browser tool and Site Info).
- With the Fall '06 deployment behind them, Berkeley is looking keenly to the Fall '07 deployment and has rearranged their resources to make sure that their CM-related requirements are met.
Conclusions:
- Berkeley will oversee future design and development of Gradebook, Section Info and Roster. (The Roster tool will be a collaboration with IU.)
- Stanford, with Duffy's help, will take on future design and development of Home tool, the CM browser admin tool and changes to the Site Info wizard.
- As best possible, each team will work to meet each other's respective requirements or negotiate them when problems arise.
- The ongoing weekly CM meeting will be to give progress updates, review documents and problems solve as appropriate.
This memo is meant to be succinct rather than comprehensive. If you have concerns or see any glaring holes, please let us know.
