Indiana University Reporting Information:

Dave McPherson has gotten access to the Reports tool from IU directory and will be investigating what needs to be done. Will download and see where changes need to be made to OSP. VTech is running 2.6 now. Try to get it working with trunk and then roll it back to previous versions. Will be upgrading to 2.7 and will see what it would take to upgrade to 2.7. Will check back in a month or so.
In future University of Delaware will update us on their work with the Serensoft Form Parser tool.
See Portfolio Reports page for links and attachments displaying the following sample reports:
• Robin Hill discussed her contribution of a report for forms and a report for matrix.
• Debbie Runshe discussed her pdf of sample IUPUI reports
• Lynn Ward discussed sample IU Reports
Points Identified:
• Once Reports tool is upgraded, IU reports could be modified by institutions for their own purposes
• Importance of being able to drill down to actual student cell (how does this overlap with instructor dashboard idea?)
• Need to view attachments in forms as well as from matrix cells - possible to report on this, just not done yet.
• Random selection of rated cells and artifacts?
• Could you put all cells of a certain rating in a specified report so that accreditors can select randomly from the list? Yes, you could sort on rating from low to high or high to low, another version with a different sort field. Or export it and analyze in Excel
• Curriculum mapping report
• IU is willing to share its reports, report templates, documentation, etc.
• Institutions may be able to modify the report in order to accommodate your particular forms.
• One issue is reports tool is not as mature as other tools. For example, if you deploy a report, it is visible to everyone with a reports tool.
• If you run a report, you choose a matrix or wizard in the site to report on. It does not run reports across sites.
• If you link assignments to a cell, the current reports will not cover the linked assignments. IU has not had time to do this yet.
• Eventually IU will allow instructors to rate assignments with evaluation form rubrics in the Assignments tool.
• If had it to do over again, might have chosen to spit out data in a form, row by row, student by student, more or less what Robin showed in her report
• Most people are interested in evaluation forms for reports - end up with huge text fields, what is it that we want out of forms? If text handling, then just regurgitating text is enough.
• What is the core pedagogical intent of forms? Counts of things are non-pedagogical.
• Taking a look at the aggregate data can impact teaching in profound ways.
• Meet opposite weeks from the portfolio visioning group - same time???
• Afternoon is bad for participation from Britain-- but that's okay! Will follow by notes. RH
• Not OK with me!! We will try to find a time that works for you.
• Janice will put up a Doodle Spreadsheet to try to get everyone's preferences.
