The special rank feature doesn't work if the user has not the "msg.permissions.allowToField.allParticipants" permission. I suppose this is an unintended behaviour and I have created the jira SAK-28107.

I cannot find msgcntr.forum.rankimage.maxsize in the default sakai.properties. Are there any other properties for this feature? Is there a property to turn the feature off by default?

I updated the affects version since this feature is new to Sakai 10, right? And since it is resolved and made it into Sakai 10 branch, it probably had a fixed version of Sakai 10.0-qa03 or lower.
I'm going to close this ticket as new bugs should be filed in separate versions.

Hi Oliver. Since this is a new feature, I would say you need to create new Jiras for the bugs. If this was a bug, and if it had not yet been merged into a branch, then it might make sense to reopen. Thanks! And thanks for the test script too! I'll add it to our "catalogue" of test scripts. You could either make the issues a sub-task of this issue, or maybe link them back. Please also link to .
Stanford University is moving from phpBB to the native Sakai Forums tool. One functional gap in making the move is support for the ability to give special designation/rank to site member(s), for instance rank based on role in course or to identify site members by the number of posts they've made.
Stanford has developed this "Ranks" feature and would be happy to contribute it back to the community. Specs attached.
Use Cases: The teaching staff might want to know who the regular posters are or encourage greater class participation by giving recognition to those who have made a certain number of posts . For instance, an instructor might want to give the title of "Wizard" (and optionally a corresponding graphic) to any member posting more than 50 posts. The teaching staff might also want to give certain site members a special title independent of post count. For instance, students in a large class with active Forums participation might appreciate the ability to differentiate which posts came from the teaching staff versus from other classmates.
