Note: Guidance will be added to the Freshman year cells of the Matrix.

Add guidance to Freshman/Written Matrix cell

Click Matrix from the main menu.

The 'Matrix Manager' is displayed.

Click Create/Edit link at the top of the screen.

The Matrix 'Scaffolding' page displays with scaffolding data filled in.

Click Generate Matrix

The 'Matrix Scaffolding' page appears with the Matrix cells in place.

Click Matrix cell denoting the intersection of Freshman/Written

The 'Edit Cell Settings' page form displays. The title displays: Skill: Written; Year: Freshman

Click the link Click here to create guidance

The 'Guidance' page is displayed.

Enter the following to the 'Add Instruction' textbox:
'Write a paper on a topic of your choice that uses persuasion arguments to make your case.'
Click Manage Attachments

Click Add New

The 'Add Items' page is displayed.

Enter the following:
Add Item Type: Select 'File Upload'
Number of Files to Upload: Select 'F1'
Choose a File: Click Browse to locate a Word document from your computer to add.
Title: should be pre-populated with the filename of the Word document you chose.
Click Add

The 'Add Attachment' page is displayed with your Word document listed in the 'Items to Attach' area.

Click Finish

The 'Guidance' page is displayed with the filename of the Word document you added underneath the 'Manage Attachments' button.

Enter the following to the 'Add Example' textbox:
'Please refer to the attached document as an example of the type of work I am looking for.'
Click Manage Attachments

The 'Add Items' page is displayed.

Enter the following:
Add Item Type: Select 'File Upload'
Number of Files to Upload: Select 'F1'
Choose a File: Click Browse to locate a PDF document from your computer to add.
Title: should be pre-populated with the filename of the PDF document you chose.
Click Add

The 'Add Attachment' page is displayed with your PDF document listed in the 'Items to Attach' area.

Click Finish

The 'Guidance' page is displayed with the filename of the PDF document you added underneath the 'Manage Attachments' button.

Enter the following text in the 'Add Rationale' textbox:
'See the attached document for an example on how this type of communication has changed history.'
Click Manage Attachments
