This is a regression from SAM-2378. Some ideas for how we'd fix this are there. I don't think it's directly related to Morpheus.

I added a morpheus tag, in case it is related. I can reproduce that the "bad date" (i.e. putting in a due date which is before the availability date does not seem to save, but no error is shown to the user so that he/she can correct it.
Steps to reproduce the issue:
1. Create an assessment with questions.
2. Set the due date before the start date in try to publish the assessment.
3. No error message is shown but nothing happens.
