Sakai Community Practices: current 2.1.x "maintenance branch" is only meant for bug fixes
- as of October 31, 2006, we are still putting in patches that have been tested locally
- after we complete this step, we will start adding patches that have not been tested locally; at that time, 2.1.x will cease to be reliable
- once we start committing patches that haven't been tested, we will probably need to move to a system where we add patches until a certain time, test until a certain time, and then release everything that passed as a new 2.1 tag
- that timeframe may be something like weekly, biweekly, or monthly, depending on what the community decides
