This walkthrough is for the Student persona.

Start of Walkthrough Script

Login and Find Tool

Login with the "arfstu1" user account.
In the worksites list (accesskey "Alt+w"), activate the "AR Forum 101" course site link.
In the tools list (accesskey "Alt+l"), activate the "Forums" link.

Determine the List of Forums

Explore the page and determine how many forums exist, and what their names are. Should be:

Heirloom Plants
Organic Gardening
Bird Language

Determine the Topics for the "Organic Gardening" Forum

Explore the page to determine how many topics the "Organic Gardening" forum has, and what the topics are. Should be:

Garden Design
Understanding Soil

Determine which Topics have Unread Messages

Explore the page to determine how many topics have unread messages, and what those topics are. Should be:

Plant Propagation
Native Varieties
Helpful Birds to Study

Find a Message and Reply to It

Find the messages in the "Plant Propagation" topic and reply to the message posted by user: "arfstu2"

Create a new Thread on the "Garden Design" topic under the "Organic Gardening" forum.

Enter the "Garden Design" topic and create a new thread and post a message in it.

Logout and End of Script

Pre-Walkthrough Setup

This section documents how to create the necessary content to perform the above walkthrough script. It is not part of the walkthrough itself. It is expected that a person with the ability to log into the QA server with admin rights will create this content before the walkthrough takes place.

Login as Admin

Create three users:

arfins
arfstu1
arfstu2

Create a course

Title: AR Forum 101
Add the Forums tool
Add user "arfins" as a participant with the "instructor" role
Add user "arfstu1" as a participant with the "student" role
Add user "arfstu2" as a participant with the "student" role

Logout

Login as "arfins"

In the "AR Forum 101" Course Site, create the following forum structure

Forum: Bird Language
- Short Description: Learn what birds are saying to each other.
- Long Description: What are birds saying to each other and what can we learn from that?
- Topic: Bird Vocalizations
  - Short Description: Bird vocalizations and why they make them.
  - Long Description: Discuss different vocalizations you have heard and what they might mean.
- Topic: Helpful Birds to Study
  - Short Description: What birds do you study and why?
  - Long Description: What bird do you study for each season and why?
- Topic: A Bird's Perspective on Life
  - Short Description: Discuss what concerns a bird.
  - Long Description: Discuss a bird's daily energy concerns and how that varies through life
Forum: Organic Gardening
- Short Description: How to garden organically
- Long Description: Let's discuss and learn about organic gardening.
- Topic: Understanding Soil
  - Short Description: More than just a medium
  - Long Description: Discuss the soil food web
- Topic: Garden Design
  - Short Description: How does your garden grow?
  - Long Description: Discuss different garden techniques
Forum: Heirloom Plants
- Short Description: Let's bring back yesteryear.
- Long Description: Let's discuss the benefits and difficulties of gardening with Heirloom Plants
- Topic: Native Varieties
  - Short Description: What grows in your neighborhood?
  - Long Description: Discuss which plants to grow
- Topic: Plant Propagation
  - Short Description: The birds and the bees
  - Long Description: How to keep your plants coming back year after year

Create a message in each topic in the Heirloom Plants forum as the instructor.

Login as the "arfstu2" user and reply to both of the instructor's messages and create a message in the "Helpful Birds to Study" topic.
