Closing since this is a QA pass.
I've created two new JIRAs to follow the issues raised in Nancy's comment.

QA ENVIRONMENT -
vista enterprise, firefox, ie7
smartsite-test sakai_2-5-x-test-076 - Sakai 2.5.x-R57934 gb2-1.1.0-b2 - Server sakaitest2
QA SUMMARY -
on my 3 letter grade sites (no cats, cats and weighted cats) verify no numeric calculated grade
is visible.
1 - as IOR in view as student - calculated grade no longer shows
2 - SU as students - regular and override (stu5) - only course grade displayed, no calculated grade for any - ok
3 - verify calculated grade is still displayed on points, %, p/np sites for students and IOR - ok
QA RESULTS -
pass on -test
COMMENTS -
for no cats site in student view (IOR and student) there is a partial "collapse" icon at the top left of
the item list window. it works but it should either be visible totally or not there at all (preferred as there's
no reason to collapse items on a no cats site, they all disappear).student sees rank, IOR doesn't
in item window, column header sorts seem to function as expected
in item window, column choice dropdowns work
choice "show in groups" is checked by default. when I unchecked it I couldn't get the choice back
in the dropdown as IOR or student. had to refresh. is this how it should work? I think the choice should
remain in the dropdown, to be checked or not.now there is "click on a row to see comments" - GOOD
items window columns have been decreased, which reduces need to scroll <--> - MUCH BETTER!!
option" show in groups" is unclear. once I figured out what it does, I'd say "show in categories."

Executed M:1.1.x-test.
Since the calculated grade may be "strange", since we're mapping directly the letter grades to numeric values, it doesn't make sense to let the students see their calculated grade when the instructor is grading everything with letters.
