EduTools Entry

The Sakai 2.0 review is finally complete and it is now on the Edutools website and in their comparative engine. Now, folks who wanted to do comparisons between Sakai and BB or WebCT, etc., can do so. Check it out.

BTW, Sakai was the first platform that went through a verification process by the Edutools team. I gave them Sakai demo sites (student/instructor accounts) to go through the features and functionality included in the report I completed. This is a new process established with Sakai 2.0 (and new Edutools software). In the past, they published what vendors gave them. We will continue to update the Edutools engine as the software evolves.

To do a comparison between Sakai and another system:

  1. Go to: http://www.edutools.info/course/
  2. Click on "Compare Products" (middle fat button at the top of the page/below header)
  3. Click on "By Product Name"
  4. Check "Sakai 2.0" and "Blackboard 5.5 and click on "compare"

You can do the same with other platforms.

Draft Feature Overview of Sakai 2.0 - for EDUTOOLS

The attached is a preliminary document that I prepared as part of my responsibility to submit the features of Sakai 2.0 to Edutools to be included in their comparative software engine (http://www.edutools.info). The purpose of this document is to enable potential adopters of Sakai to compare Sakai with other systems, such as Blackboard, WebCT, Moodle, etc.

I did my best to provide a thorough overview of the Sakai tools from my knowledge of the system and information provided in Confluence and other project sites. It is your turn to take a look at it and post comments with revisions, additions, URL's, etc. Please see below and post your comments/corrections or email me directly.

Add Entries in Confluence on Tools/Features Missing

I need URL's for items/projects that are missing in the spreadsheet. If you have knowledge on a specific item that is missing documentation (URL), please add an entry in conflunce and post the URL below with your comments. I added a few entries in Confluence with user guides/feature documents for the items below.

Information on the gradebook is included under "Projects" in Sakaipedia.
