Cannot Test Drive assessment that is published, but is not yet open.

Description

Test Center's Test Drive functionality exists to allow an instructor to verify an assessment's setup prior to students taking the assessment. Currently, instructors are only able to test drive assessment once they are published and open. It appears the requirement that the assessment be open prior to Test Driving is a regression.

A massive high-five to Zhen, who determined that this is only occurs for Admin users. The code checks to see that a user has mneme.manage, but does not have mneme.submit before allowing a user to test drive an assessment. Admin users have both permissions, whereas owners, instructors, assistants and affiliates have mneme.manage, but not mneme.submit.

Therefore, this should not be occurring for instructors, only for admins. I will close the ticket, pending any other reported cases.

I just spoke with Jeff Ziegler about this. From our common understanding, Test Drive not working unless the assessment being open is a regression. Test Drive not working unless the assessment being published is not a regression, but a suggested enhancement. According the instructor I spoke to about this, the regression happened late in the winter 2013 semester, after we had upgraded to 2.9. It is possible his recollection is fuzzy.
