Feedback: "Grader's comments" on individual questions do not display unless "student response" is also selected

Description

In Settings > Feedback > Release Questions and the following, if the instructor checks Graders comments, but does not check Student Response, the student cannot see question-specific grader comments. This is one of several cases where as specific combination of options must be selected in order for the selected feedback to display to the student. If there are dependencies among the feedback options, the system should warn the user that the selected options will not display.

To reproduce:

1. Create an assessment with at least one question. Enable feedack on submission and under "Release Questions and the following", choose Graders comments" only.
2. Log in as student and take the assessment.
3. Log in as instructor/grader, go to the questions screen and add a grader comment to each question.
4. Login in as student and few the feedback. The grader comments do not display for the questions.
5. Log in as instructor, and change feedback settings by adding Student Response.
6. Log in as student and view feednack again. This time the grader comments are visible.

Closing since the affected versions are no longer supported.

Tested this on master 5/8/2015 and this is no longer an issue. No options have dependencies as described above, i.e. selecting "Graders Comments" will show the graders comments even though "Student Response" is not selected.

This was discovered during testing last April. We have a local Jira for it, but a generic Sakai Jira was never created. We hope to conquer all of our local critical Samigo bugs December, so I've been spending some time reviewing our lower priority Jiras, making sure that the ones that also affect generic Sakai are reported, etc. I will be asking our functional requirements committee to identify the next 10 or so that they'd like to see fixed. If this makes it into the list, then it might make it on to a developers plate in the next 6 months or so.

Hi Lynn,

If there's a dependency going on then it should be apparent to the user what this dependency is. Does Indiana have the bandwidth to propose a fix? If not, then Stanford can take it on although not immediately. Curious, did you catch this during testing or was it reported by a user?

Thanks,
Jackie
