question pool / after editing question pool text new text does not show in published assessment

Description

After editing a question pool the changes do not appear in a pending or published assessment. In both instances the assessments are setup as a random draw (I am using all the questions in the pool). In the published assessment I attempted to regrade and republish the assessment but the edited text in the question pool did not appear. Even exporting and importing into another site (by the same user) does not pick up the changes. The only way around this issue would be to create a brand new assessment.

Replication:
1) Create a question pool with a few questions
2) Create an assessment that does a random pull from the question pool you just created
Optional: You can publish this assessment if you want to
3) Edit the question pool that is being pulled into the assessment you created (I changed the answers on one of my multiple choice questions)
4) Access the assessment again and notice that the changes did not take affect
a) If you published the assessment you could try to regrade/republish the assessment but the changes to not come into affect
5) Attempt to export/import into another site
6) The changes still do not appear

In Sakai Revision: 99080, the questions are updated in a pending assessment after making changes in the question pool. Published a test before changes, then made the changes in the question pool, renamed the random draw test and published again.

The updated questions displayed both in preview as the instructor and for the student in the newly published assessment.

Hi Aaron,

Please refer to the related JIRA items for discussion and update. Essentially, Longsight is proceeding with work that will affect pending copies only. Consideration for changes to published copies will be revisited at a later time.

Best,
Jackie

Hi Aaron,

This is the expected behavior. When the assessment is created, the pool questions are "copied" into the assessment (not "linked"). Therefore, any changes to the pools won't get reflected in the assessment.

Our Ux designer is currently reviewing this feature. Let me assign this JIRA to them and so you can get the updates if there are any.

Thanks,
Karen
