Structure import for new gradebooks

What does differently is that it uses the existing structure of the gradebook to dictate how the import will be acheived... the one case where it doesn't is if the gradebook appears to not have been modified by the user: the use case for this ticket.

I understood that, and I saw your comment. But what I don't understand is the following. Lets say that is implemented, then what's the problem? What does not work? Is it to change the way it functions? That's what I was asking, sorry for being unclear.

The desc says: "the structure of no categories, points gradebooks with no items will get replaced by imported structure." But this is the way it works now(w/o 414) Am I wrong on that fact? Is the import process not supposed to replace structure that after the end of this JIRA? Or is the replacement of structure not working if 414 is implemented? That's my confusion.

Mike, you seem to comment here as if you didn't see mine on the 17th in which I attempt to describe the origin and purpose of the jira.

repeat, perhaps with more clarity: this issue is created by code in which has not been implemented... and so since it has not, then this ticket is not relevant to current code... perhaps I should have made it clearer that the partial implementation is just in patches or branches.

This ticket is meant to document a special case (that would arise if that code were in place) in which the resultant gb structure would be dictated by the file structure.

I'm not certain what is the goal of this JIRA. The current way it works as far as I know is that if you don't have any items graded, you can change the grade type and category type by either import or the gradebook setup UI. Is this not working or do we want to change the current way its supposed to work?
