Now that we have GBNG and more unified tools, it would be nice if every tool graded the same way. Depending on the tool Sakai either allows for either the Gradebook or tool to hold the authoritative grade.

The way many tools add a grade to the gradebook, in GBNG the column is shown as locked and a message that "the item has been imported from an external tool has has to be edited from within that tool" appears.

If you add the item to the gradebook first and then "link" to it, you can often edit it in both gradebook and in the tool. This is very often the "preferred' way and I believe should be the only way.
