Group Role Management System
About
Group Role Management System
We have developed a homegrown database system at Roskilde University to handle the increasing need of addressing groups and the roles of memberships in different contexts. Preliminary concerns was about management of courses and email lists, but authorizing administrative users to create and change course descriptions (not syllabuses) and handling course prescriptions. Uses for Sakai are membership and role management, and as a substitute for the email list function in Sakai (we are implementing a moderated and anti-spam secured list system, but would like to keep the Email Archive (and maybe attachment linking) functionality of Sakai.
Support in Sakai:
The IMS Enterprise support is promising, and we would probably write a CourseProvider for our Group Role Management System. The Email Archive and Announcement system duplicates some of the functionality of our auxilliary email list system. We try to deactivate mail distribution through Sakai and delegate this to our mailing list system, but keep the other functionalities.
