How to Add A Tool

These examples show how to add the Dashboard tool, but the same process is applied to any tool that is not available in a course or in a user’s Home (workspace).

Add a Tool to a Course

Video

  1. Copy the site ID:

    • From the URL: the value between site/ and /tool

    • From Site Info > Site Information: the value after site/ in the Site URL

  2. Log in as an admin and click on Sites in the navigation

  3. Enter the site ID in the search box

  4. Click the link displayed for your course

  5. On the Edit: Site <id> page, scroll down to the bottom

  6. Click Add/Edit pages

  7. On the next page, click the New Page tab at the top

  8. Enter a title for the tool and click on Tools

  9. Click the New Tool tab 

  10. Select the tool from the Features drop-down

  11.  Click Save

  12.  Refresh your site and you will see the Dashboard in the navigation

Add a Tool to a User’s Workspace

  1. Log in as an admin

  2. Click on Users in the navigation

  3. Search for the user and copy their internal ID

  4. Click on Sites in the navigation and enter the user’s internal ID in the search box

  5. Click on the link returned

  6. The following process is now the same as adding a tool to a course site: scroll down and click on Add/Edit Pages

  7. On the next page, click the New Page tab at the top

  8. Enter a title for the tool and click on Tools

  9. Click the New Tool tab 

  10.  Select the tool from the Features drop-down

  11.  Click Save

  12.  Log in as the user and you should now have the tool in the Home navigation, (Dashboard in this case).
