Community Review - Initial Designs - Functional

Community Review of CM Functional Designs

Reviewing Requirements

We need the input from interaction/UI designers, project managers, customer support staff or anyone involved with determining functional requirements for Sakai at your institutions. Your input will help us determine if we are accounting for the course management-related use cases/usage scenarios present at your institution.  Here is a sampling of questions that might elusidate the types of use cases we are looking for:

  • If a faculty member wants to set-up a course site, who should be included? Those course roster? If there are sections (tutorials) how should those groupings be shown in the interface?
  • Who are the other people, besides faculty and students who will be using the site? What is the most appropriate time for them to be given access?
  • What are the critical parts of content that a faculty member needs to put on their site? From where would this content come?
  • How are students added and dropped from sites?

These are a sampling of the types of questions that we used in our interviews and observations. If you would like to see more of these questions in thinking about your use cases, they are recorded here.

What can you do? Please review the current Requirements and Course and Site Structure Patterns make comments to those pages. If your questions/comments are more general and do not not apply to these documents please feel free to email cm-wg@collab.sakaiproject.org.

Thanks!
