The LSA Student Government executive committee reported that it's confusing/cumbersome to have courses both in CTools and Canvas. The one request/complaint they had is that it's not possible to have both Canvas and CTools open at the same time (i.e., one on each tab in a browser) and that it's an either or proposition, which is difficult when they're switching between sites for different courses.
Workflow: Open browser -> enter ctools.umich.edu > Gateway> log into CTools. Then to go to Canvas, open a new tab ->enter ctools.umich.edu to get to the Gateway -> directed back into a new instance of CTools that bypasses the login screen.
Students could select the Gateway link at the bottom of the page or enter canvas.umich.edu in the new tab or open a new browser. All options go to the Gateway where they can click on the link to Canvas. The confusing part is that canvas.umich.edu does not go directly to Canvas, but to the Gateway.
A suggestion is to put a link with a button to Canvas somewhere in the banner where students see their list of classes.
