Phantom sessions hang around

Description

Some small percentage (<1%) of usage sessions (i.e. that show up in Admin Tools / Online) do not get expired or removed properly over time. As a result, usage sessions hang around that are several days old and are clearly invalid as can be demonstrated by pinging the client IP (which is on the local network so should respond under normal circumstances).

So somewhere there are some loopholes resulting in usagesessions not getting cleaned up properly.

As of 2-5-x, we are no longer seeing this behaviour (across several app servers with uptimes > 300 hours).

So I'm optimistically marking this resolved, on the assumption that the changes to session handling and cleanup in other JIRAs for 2.5 have also resolved this issue.
