Email body & attachment being stripped from HTML mail (e.g., Mac Mail, Groupwise)

Description

Some users have reported that when they attach a Word document to an email message, CTools strips out all of the message content and the attachment.

There is also a curious tag that shows up at the bottom of these messages.
Example:
--Apple-Mail-1-662416190--

Tested on qa3-us.sakaiproject.org

Also seen evidence of this bug on Confluence (see Lance Speelmon's message "Disk Usage Metrics" sent on Aug 8, 2006 at 11:48am to the Saki Dev list)

These fixes have been included in an official foundation release so I am marking them as closed and unassigning them from the Sakai QA account

David Horwitz February 11, 2008 at 2:01 AM

merged into 2-5-x with r41122

Beth Kirschner February 8, 2008 at 12:49 PM

Verified with Apple Mail, GMail and Thunderbird mail clients.
Simple fix – please merge with 2.5.x

The SakaiMailet class crashes when trying to create a new ContentType containing blanks, such as:

Content-Type: application/octet-stream;
x-mac-type=5738424E;
x-unix-mode=0644;
x-mac-creator=4D535744;
name=This is a test.doc

This is easily reproducible in Mac Mail (2.1.2).

A Content-Type string that does not generate problems encloses the filename in quotes, such as:

Content-Type: application/octet-stream; name="This is a test.doc"

Sorry, I misunderstood.

We checked this out: a message with attachment of a file with spaces in the filename was sent from Mac Mail through the Email Archive for the site TLTC on server QA3-us.

I did not work--the message appeared with no body text or attachment.
