I can see T&Q settings overriding the Date Manager options if there are feedback options selected which would limit the feedback display. However, in Discussions, when there is simply no date specified, and no overriding options that would prevent a date from being applied, it seems unintuitive to block the ability to add a date for those items. Other items like Resources, Lessons, etc. don’t have this restriction.
In the Date Manager, it is not possible to select the Date picker for items that have not already been assigned a date within the Discussion tool. However, if there is an existing date, it can be updated via Date Manager. This behavior is different than all of the other tools in Date Manager, where the picker can be selected to assign a new date to an item which did not have an existing date associated with it. It is also quite inconvenient, since it means that if an instructor wants to assign a date to a new forum or topic while updating other items in Date Manager, they have to leave that screen, go to Discussions, find the individual forum or topic, and assign a date there first.
