Home - Worksite Setup - Allow professors to bulk publish/unpublish sites

Description

Issue

If professors want to quickly publish new class sites for an academic term or unpublish an entire semester, year, and/or multiple years of class sites, this can be time-consuming on a site-by-site basis. Can there be a way for professors that want to close older sites by un-publishing these older class sites? Or after setting everything up, publish their latest sites at one time?

NOTE: Some schools can use the course management system to publish/un-publish sites in bulk. That is an administrative process that is outside of the direct control of instructors. The request in this ticket can help professors at institutions where the course management system is not in use or if a school has a course creation process but not an “unpublish” process.

Proposal

Similar to how users can bulk “unjoin” joinable sites in Membership or bulk delete sites in Worksite Setup, please add a mechanism to bulk publish/un-publish sites in Worksite Setup.

The solution should offer permissions and settings to help institutions enable or disable this functionality:

  • Add a system-level property to enable or disable this functionality system-wide. If an institution uses the course management with auto-publish and auto-unpublish schedules, they may want to prohibit this option.

  • Add role/realm permissions to enable/disable based on site types (e.g. allow for all site types or maybe only project sites, etc.) and/or roles.

Thank you for considering this feature request.
