This is actually working on trunk, but a little bit differently than described in the test plan. Search has to be added to the site. When results are found, they are in the fly-out.

However, it is not working on 23x.

Trunk console keeps spitting out the following upon every search attempt:
INFO [org.sakaiproject.sitestats.impl.StatsUpdateManagerImpl] o.s.s.i.StatsUpdateManagerImpl.parseSiteId Context information unavailable for event: search.query (ignoring)

A pull request has been created, "SAK-46259: conversations: index creator data for searches", you can see it at https://github.com/sakaiproject/sakai/pull/10850
There's a search available in Conversations, but it doesn't currently work. Instructors and students would like for it to work.
