I didn't intend to change the profiles for the older versions, but I could have lost track of some bit. Fixing this up should be as simple as adding the properties back into the profile at the right versions, which I see has been done in r125662. As far as the actual RSF versions, if there was some breaking change between 0.7.5 and 0.7.7, that seems like an oversight. The Spring-related stuff was put into 0.8-SNAPSHOT, so it should be unrelated.

That change was made because the build failed in 2.9 without it but someone can investigate it further if they like (It probably was not intentional to change the 2.8 build).

For the mailsender changes you moved the 2.8 profile to use rsfutil to 0.7.7 which doesn't seem to work in a 2.8 build () I was wondering what the reason was for the change as reverting this seems to produce a working build for 2.8

As of the 4AM trunk build on nightly2, all known issues are resolved.
Due to many new features especially annotation based configurations I think it is a good candidate for upgrade for next Sakai release.
Here is list of feature that came up with Spring 3.0 which most developers might have seen before.
