Description

[New] - 3/13/2018

[Issue]

  • The "(today day in the month)" text (Today in calendar) is gray (#777620) against a yellow (#fffa90) background which does not provide sufficient contrast. The current contrast ratio is 4.4:1.- The "(current day in the month)" text (Current day in calendar) is white (#FFFFFF) against a blue (#007fff) background which does not provide sufficient contrast. The current contrast ratio is 3.8:1.

[User Impact]
Users with low vision may have difficulty reading the text.

[Expected behavior]

Developers must ensure that all text and images of text provide sufficient contrast. Per Chris's comment, closing this JIRA. We can reopen it if needed in the future. Thanks.

Per Mark’s request, looked back at the test results from our Sakai 22 testing and don’t believe this is still an issue. According to the Sakai 22 VPAT, there were two links on the Gateway page which had insufficient color contrast, but those were fixed with SAK-49519.

As reference, in the Sakai 22 VPAT report, WCAG Success Criteria 1.4.1 - Use of Color states, “This criterion is supported. There are no instances where insufficient color contrast is preventing users from distinguishing links from the surrounding text.”
