I'm unassigning myself from this. I'm not familiar with Oracle and am finding it difficult even getting Oracle running. Matthew has the right line - the hql is built there and I'm assuming there's something weird about the syntax used. Somebody familiar with Oracle and with a dev environment ready to go needs to take a look.

Marking as a blocker just because of how many errors it generates
added functionality to sitestats for lessons, but it doesn't work in Oracle and throws database exceptions.
This looks like the line
