Are merges into 2.9.x needed?

Sam Ottenhoff March 10, 2013 at 12:37 PM

I'm marking this as resolved because there are commits on it. But I'm still confused as to what should be done. I will remove the Merge flags for now.

Integrated in assignment trunk #518 (See http://builds.sakaiproject.org:8080/job/assignment%20trunk/518/)
move assignment & permissions properties into correct (resources) directory (Revision 118381)

Result = SUCCESS

radeox_messages_sv.properties (extended ascii instead of ascii encoding)
sections_sv.properties (duplicate keys)
UserNotificationProvider_sv.properties (missing "\" in several ascii encodings)
sitesetupgeneric_sv.properties (missing placeholder ''{0}'')

I think using "extended ascii" (in our case åäö) is not something we should do, even if it works. native2ascii should be used on those files and a proper editor (that handles the encoding) when fixing minor changes. I can live with a whole file using extended ascii, but when it is mixed with ascii encoded characters I think it is definitely not ok.

I suggest you revert the commit, if not someone is willing to update the files.

I have already submitted swedish language patches in https://jira.sakaiproject.org/browse/SAK-21910

Which are the "flaws"? Java handles the "extended ascii" fine (which are the funny characters in the right_sv.properties file). If the "flaws" are detrimental to understanding the UI, then I can revert the whole commit. Otherwise, you can open a new JIRA when updates are available. Please advise!
