After clicking Update Preferences, page refreshes itself again after a few seconds

Description

After making changes on the Customize Tabs page and clicking Update Preferences, the page gets refreshed a second time, several seconds after the initial refresh. It is more noticeable in IE9 than it is in FF9.

To reproduce:
Click on Preferences in the My Workspace menu
Customize Tabs page displays
Move a course from My Active Sites to My Hidden Sites
Click Update Preferences
The page refreshes, then a few seconds later it refreshes again

IE9 is affected more than FF9
