Adding an URL to an rtsp:// stream in the Resource tool produces an error page when you click on the link.
Other streaming protocols, such as mms://, seems to work.

I just tested this on the nightly server, and I'm not able to reproduce the problem. Prompting a user to open an external application for protocols and file types is browser- and os-specific, and is currently functioning correctly as far as Sakai is concerned.

rtsp://test link appears to be working in Sakai 2.8 b4 on qa1-nl.sakaiproject.org
