My Workspace Schedule Tool: Let Past Semesters be unmerged by default

Description

With reference to the 'Merge functionality" in the My Workspace Schedule tool:
In the My Workspace calendar, past semester sites should be unmerged by default. OR, users should have the options to "include past semesters" or "exclude past semesters".
To my thinking, this prevents a kind of calendar creep - what happens after 3 years of heavy calendar use?
If we're going to set a default, it seems to me that whichever option we set as default, half the users will prefer 'the other way'. So it makes sense to build the options in at the start.

Roger, could you explain what your concern is here about "creep"? Is it a performance concern about rendering the calendar display? Have you tested it to determine that it doesn't preform well under such circumstances? I don't know if the code is optimized to not bother doing much of anything when the current view is outside the range of a site's schedule items, but maybe Beth has some knowledge to share on that. Since past course schedule items will already fall out of the current view as time rolls on, it seems like if you are looking back into the past on a calendar, then you probably do want to see that old data (which is presumably why you're looking in to the past.)

Won't Fix
