Multiple choice multiple answer has build in negative marking, yet the minimum mark one can get is 0.
In multiple choice single answer questions, its either full marks for the correct choice or 0 if incorrect.
Would it be possible to implement negative marking (in at least MC single answer) questions. Which could work in either 2 ways 1) The user select negative marking to be true. In MC single answer the marking is either full marks for correct choice or -(full marks) for an incorrect choice. In MC multiple answer the check minimum mark = 0 is taken away.
2) A more difficult option, but maybe better in the long run, is to allow one to specify the points for a MC question but then also the value for each option in terms of a percentage e.g. Question: What is shape is the path of the earth around the sun? 2 points a) circular value: 50% b) elliptical value: 100% c) squarish value: -100% d) triangular value: -100%
Which means you have both negative marking and the ability to give differentiated marking (points = -2 if (c) or (d) is selected). Points = 1 if (a) is selected and full points if (b) is selected.
