https://sakaiproject.atlassian.net/browse/SAK-7182#icft=SAK-7182 describes one problem with database storage of resource bodies, as discussed in SAK-11744. Fixing https://sakaiproject.atlassian.net/browse/SAK-11744#icft=SAK-11744 would make https://sakaiproject.atlassian.net/browse/SAK-7182#icft=SAK-7182 moot, but even if https://sakaiproject.atlassian.net/browse/SAK-7182#icft=SAK-7182 is "fixed", database storage of resource bodies should be eliminated.

From time to time, someone deploys Sakai in production configured to store resource bodies in the database instead of in the file system. This is a critical error for a production system. Database storage of resource bodies is supported to simplify out-of-the-box configuration of a simple Sakai instance for demo or development, but when such a system is put in production with real users, it causes huge problems for the administrators and other personnel supporting such a system.
Removing this option would simplify the CHS codebase, making it easier to maintain.
It would be better to add a slight complication to the OOTB configuration than to put more people through the ordeal of trying to support database storage of resource bodies in a production system.
