Improve student search functionality (instant search/result)

Hi, I TA'd a math class with about 200 students this quarter, and as I
was entering grades for the final exam I thought of something that would
help a lot. Scrolling through the roster to find a particular student
is time consuming with a large class and it's inefficient unless the
stack of exams or assignments is in alphabetical order. Using the
search field to find a student is typically faster since it only
requires a few letters of the students name to narrow the search a lot.
It would be great to streamline the search functionality. One thing
that comes to mind immediately is to have a Google style instant query,
so that as you type in letters of the student's name, the list gets
narrowed down. Another thing would be to have a simple hotkey to jump
to the search field and back to the grading tab.
