Sakai's UX Annoyances
ADD YOUR'S HERE (Don't Be Shy!!):
Site Info Tool: Page Order vs Edit Tools
It's weird to have two tools which are doing pretty much the same thing, but with different options... They should be merged, in my sense (Mathieu)
Resources Tool
When linking to a resource from any other tool, you have to click on "Select" next to the resource. The page reloads and brings you back to the top. Then you have to scroll down to the bottom of the page to click on the "Continue" button.
I see two usability issues here:
1) People are used to clicking on the name of the resource to select it. There could be an Eye icon or something next to the name to visualize the resource in a popup window.
2) the "Continue" button should be next to the selected resource to avoid having to scroll down a long list of files and folders to find it.
Home Tool
The synoptic view of the Home tool is very useful, but the fact that the space is split in half doesn't make sense. There has to be a way to play with that right column, or, even better, let the user drag that column to the width he/she wants, or even hide it by double-clicking on its edge.
Schedule Tool
By default, the Schedule tool shows a week (morning and afternoon, you have to scroll down to see the evenings). It should show a month to let users have a look at what's coming, or even a synoptic view of the next 3 or 5 events.
All tools
All tools let users change their name in the left navigation bar, but not necessarily in their title on top (over the tool bar). For instance, if a user wants to use the wiki as a content module, the wiki tool should be renamed Content Module, including that title on top. We could use an icon to indicate it's a wiki instead.
