We are currently in full evaluation of Sakai 2, most of this early work is looking at some of the standard issues around enterprise integration and will also build on our experiences addressing similar issues with uPortal.

Authorisation
We have a recently released, centralised RDBM identity database developed at Hull that we would expect to poll for user information. This will be the same definitive data source that will be used by the portal.
Automated population of users in Sakai
Not investigated this, presumably we can have a very light touch, maybe just import userid, and where possible keep all other enterprise data external.
Automatic course creation and population
There seem to be solutions arising for this. We have a good XML interface to our courses db so will hopefully be able to exploit this. One additional thought I have with this is, how do people manage course rollover and archiving, is this possible?
Portal integration
One of the highlights of Baltimore was the demonstration of a Sakai tool playing inside uPortal using WSRP. This is something we want/need to take to production.
