OSP.2_5.UIReview.Revise Matrix
Introduction
This page allows authors to access an unpublished matrix for various purposes. Users reach this page by clicking on a matrix's Revise link on the Manage Matrices page.
Tasks
Authors may visit this page to:
- during the authoring process see what this screen would look like to matrix users
- open cells to revise
- see which cells are initially ready/locked
- navigate to the Revise Properties page
- navigate to the Manage Matrices page
Page features
The page consists of:
- A grid (matrix!) of colored, clickable squares/cells with optional file or form icons for each artifact attached to each matrix cell.
- A legend that informs users what the status of each cell in the matrix is.
Optionally, the names of the matrix, columns or rows may include tooltips and links to glossary definitions.

Authoring progression
When authoring a matrix and looking at the matrix overview it's unclear which cells are completely defined (have a title, instruction, forms etc) and which are not. You do not get an immediate overview of how far you are with the authoring of the matrix. If you want to know if the definition is complete you have to open the cell.
(gsilver) Am sensible to this problem!
Possible solution: When in authoring mode provide an icon/text of some sort that represents the status of the cell. There are some options:
- The author has to manually set a flag in de matrixcel definition form when he/she is done
- Multiple icons represent which fields of the matrixcel defintion form are filled out
- (gsilver) Title, rteditor, status, style, form, instructions, rationale, examples, reflection, feedback, evaluation, evaluators - 11 fields - reporting on all will be overkill. Â Adding yet another field to indicate "am done" will hurt. There has to be another solution???
- Add a "Save as draft" button in addition to just "Save". The action is basically the same as Save but the cell will be marked as "draft" in the matrix.
Cell color legend
The status for Pending and Completed are never used in this view. They can be removed. The other two status should read: "Initial Status: Ready" and "Initial Status: Locked".
(gsilver) Good point - yet - would it be disorienting if the matrix looked different from the published view ???
