The Sakai 2.0 Gradebook is a relatively complex non-legacy application built from the start on a foundation of Spring, Hibernate, and JSF, created by a small cross-institutional cross-disciplinary team. This will be a technical presentation for developers, covering the practical lessons learned from this project and from last year's Berkeley Pilot.

We'll pay particular attention to how to work around some of the limitations of JSF 1.1 without giving up normal web application behavior. I also expect to touch on the project management challenge of keeping a tight schedule while developing to a framework that's in flux.
