Notes
5:05 got into call
<talking about putting in an assignment fix>
Leasia: The conversion would include the new column with the unique constraint. Thought we should include this in 2.5, not a visible change.
Megan: Should be addressed in 2.4, it's a huge pain point.
Peter: How hard to move back to 2.4.x?
Zhen: It's a conversion script.
Peter: Are the code changes applicable to 2.4.x?
Zhen: Performance stuff needs new code.
Leasia: If UM doesn't go to 2.5, going to pull the post 2.4 branch in.
Michael: Q: How do folks with 2.4 assignments performance problems get this?
Leasia: Anyone running 2.4 could take the 2.5 branch of assignments.
Michael: Can do some testing on this issue after things are ready.
Megan: Any more questions about iincluding this code in 2.5 release?
Leasia: When does 10 get cut?
Megan: that's next on the agenda. I propose we don't cut a tag today. Wait till end of the week, since 9 was cut so late.
Leasia: Good then we can get fix it. And more testing.
Megan: It would be good to have a stretch of testing.
Friday afternoon or Monday morning for next tag cut?
<no response>
Will cut tag Monday morning first thing, so servers can definitely be up over the weekend.
Update of past week.
Not much occurred over the past week, because the builds were unstable. Dev team good at fixing things.
Some problems on qa3 related to oracle driver, gone after upping version.
Karen: We upgraded to 10g and it is fine now.
10.3.0.3 ?
Ian: There is a problem with all the 10g drivers and probably 9g that they fail when you try to write out binary streams. Later versions of 10g, or something within the last 6 months would probably work fine.
Megan: This needs to be added to release documentation.
I will send Anthony a note on that.
Megan: Changes for tabs and drop downs. After the tag on Monday some of the servers will be running one version and the others the other.
Then after a few weeks they will all go to the default.
Megan: Updates from folks on the call.
Michigan:
Leasia: Haven't been able to do much testing yet.
???: Mostly been testing local one. Have been working on the wiki. No major problems, just updating test cases. A lot of the docs need major revisions. Hope to finish that today and then start on forums.
Megan: Will things be slowing down there?
Leasia: Have to do a few more local builds on a few things and after that we should have more time. By next week should be better.
Megan: Georgia Tech?
James Logan and Fritz Bates: We've been doing a bit testing. Submitted several issues, and lot of the fixes have been merged in already. At the moment we have most issues with cosmetic things, like the css styles and tabs etc. Mostly focusing on assignments and grade book integration. Looks pretty good. Have submitted a few specific issues for grade book integration. A few still open.
Karen: Have been doing a lot of local testing, hoping to get back to release next week.
Megan: problem with samigo that I elevated to blocker. Need to work with them to snake out the bug. When we see a bug on only one of the servers should not immediately assume it's a configuration issue. Alan though it might have to do with ports Samigo might need, or with some firewall issues.
Karen: I don't think we use specific ports for samigo, but still looking into it.
Megan: while on samigo, some schools struggling getting the servers configured for audio questions, will start pushing to get folks set that up properly. Will have a day where folks do some authoring, and then another day when folks send out links for assessments to complete.
Megan: Anyone else?
Michael: No update.
Will rerun regressions on the presentation tool.
Megan: I spent some time testing a bunch of functionality and the regular pain points. The profile tool blows up on any instance with converted data. Someone here is looking into that. Other than that things look ok. The next week of testing should be really important after we get these build problems figured out.
Kate: I do have a test site set up for testing the Email Notifications. Am about to send a note out about it, and we can start testing that server a lot in the next few days.
Blockers
SAK-8932: no update yet
SAK-11851: Karen is working with them to determine the problem
11701: Peter elevated and sent out a call to get icons for all tools.
11973: Will hopefully have this wrapped up by the end of the week. Need to work on getting servers set up for inbound notification.
Michael: I think part of the goal is to also test the emails into the list. Since it is doing some processing.
Megan: Working on getting Andrew to set this up on QA3. A few definite nos from some to get this turned on. Will work on getting at least a couple.
11160: UI added this stuff to the two tools. Some problems with things being showed on calendar before assignment was opened. Have fixed an merging back to 2.5
11130: working on getting update
11821: Umich is working on .Should be wrapped up by the end of the week.
Anything open that should be elevated to blocker.
Proposed fixes:
No discussion
Release Date: ( November 12? )
Discussion?
Leasia: number of blockers going down?
Megan: Staying about the same.
Leasia: If the number of blockers going down isn't decreasing and we have 4 weeks, could mean problems.
<<joke about blockers going down by not doing any more testing>>
Leasia: need to keep it in mind, it's bad to fix like 12 blockers in the last week.
Michael: Need to think about institutions, and how they are effected by the date.
Megan: the feeling with this release is that many folks are not testing as much as they have in the past, since they are working on production issues.
Anything else to talk about??
GTDev: Can I still get my Sakaiger??
<<Laughter>>
Michael: You still have to test way more to get it!!
GTDev: I'm working on getting one of the big ones.
