Tested on 21.X and 22.X today using JAWS+Chrome and was able to get the edit criterion and edit ratings options to work. While using tabbed navigation, JAWS will say something like, “Heading Level 5 button, Edit Rating Inadequate” and you can press enter to open the edit dialogue, modify the title of the rating, add a description, etc. before shift+tabbing back up to the “Save” button and pressing enter to update the changes.

Hi Sam,

Upon closer examination, the issue is related, but actually has to do with screen reader/keyboard users not being able to use the “Drag to Reorder” buttons to reorder a Rubric by criterion/ratings so probably requires that a separate Jira ticket be created.

As reference, below are the actual results/notes from the Vision-Aid testing:

Able to use tab, shift+tab, and up/down arrow keys to navigate through the "Site Rubrics" tab to the Rubric you would like to begin editing, and press enter on the name of the Rubric to expand its tab. Able to use tab, shift+tab, and up/down arrow keys to navigate to the “Edit Rubric (name of Rubric) button menu collapsed” option and press enter or the spacebar to expand its menu. Able to tab several times until you hear NVDA say (name of Rubric) tab panel, drag to reorder, Heading Level 4 button, to activate press enter, and then able to use the up/down arrow keys to move through and edit specific criterion/ratings, however, was not able to get any of the “drag to reorder” buttons to work with the screen reader, as it requires the use of the mouse.

Sounds like a keyboard-only equivalent for selecting/activating the “Drag to Reorder” buttons is needed??

I will create a new Jira ticket for the “Drag and Reorder” button functionality.

Hi Chris, this issue seems to be about keyboard navigation. I just tested with a keyboard and didn’t run into any issues using keyboard only to add/edit/delete/rename/etc.

Can you say more about what issue still persists? Maybe it should be a separate JIRA?

I had Vision-Aid retest this on 21.X and 22.X using JAWS+Chrome, JAWS+Firefox, JAWS+Edge, NVDA+Firefox, and NVDA+Chrome and the issue still persists.

Verified on 21x: https://qa21-mysql.nightly.sakaiproject.org/ Build: c213b14d

Win10 (Firefox, Chrome, Edge)

Note: behavior is as expected with the test plan – when editing a title in a dialog box, pressing enter does not save or close the window; this behavior persists, forcing the user to Shift-Tab back to the Save Cancel buttons.
